Recognizing the signs it may be time for memory care can be challenging, as they can often be mistaken for “normal” behavior. Early detection is crucial. Identifying the need for memory care in its early stages offers your loved one the benefit of consistent structure and a smoother transition.
Here are some signs to be aware of:
- Displacement: Wandering, getting lost, or elopement (wandering away from safe areas).
- Neglecting Routine: Withdrawal from social interactions, scheduled activities, and regular eating habits, as well as neglecting daily self-care.
- Increased Aggression: Possibly stemming from heightened fear or confusion, or an unmet need they can’t express.
